John Sigmon, CFA
Founder & Principal Investment Officer
John founded Douglas Maria after approximately fifteen years in the investment industry, with deep expertise across Healthcare and Industrials. A CFA charterholder, he trained within the classic value tradition as an equity research analyst at Nuance Investments, covering global equities in a long-only concentrated framework, following seven years at Capital Group in performance measurement and portfolio analytics. He holds an MBA in Investment Management from the McCombs School of Business at UT Austin, where he served as a portfolio manager of the MBA Investment Fund, and dual Bachelor's degrees in Economics and Japanese Language and Literature from UC Irvine.
Alex Kohara
Partner & Chief Operating Officer
Alex Kohara is a Partner and the Chief Operating Officer, responsible for Douglas Maria’s operational infrastructure, compliance, and investor relations. As a founding partner, he leverages over eleven years of experience at Beacon Pointe Advisors. His background includes quantitative and qualitative due diligence on investment managers, and institutional consulting services. Alex’s perspective as a former asset allocator allows Douglas Maria to maintain an institutional-quality framework from inception. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of California, Riverside.
